Application Procedure:

Admission Application:

General admission procedure is as follows:

  • Search for colleges and courses and select as per your requirement and eligibility
  • Take the required entrance exams like GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS
  • Write SOPs (Statement of Purpose) and obtain LORs (Letter of Recommendation)
  • Apply to colleges which fit your interests
  • Appear for video interviews of the colleges that shortlisted you
  • If accepted at the college, you may apply for the student visa

 

Visa Application:

To study in Singapore, students will need a Student’s Pass. Some students will need a visa to enter the country along with a Student’s Pass. Your visa may be applied by the university itself you are selected in. Although you may have to apply for the Student Pass to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) through the Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration System (SOLAR) between one to two months before the start of your course. You would access SOLAR using details provided by your university after acceptance.

You are required to submit the following documents:

  • eForm 16
  • Passport details
  • Your university’s address
  • Your email address
  • A passport sized photo

You are required to pay S$30 as an application fee.

On your arrival in Singapore, you would be required to visit the ICA for the collection of your Student Pass and here you are required to pay a fee of S$60 at the Student Pass issuance.

 

Study cost in Singapore:

The tuition expenses in Singapore for an undergraduate course might be up to Singapore Dollar OR S$12,000 to S$15,000 per year for an undergraduate course. And if you are thinking of applying to a graduate course, the cost would be approximately S$18,000 to S$25,000 per year.

 

Student Visa Category:

International students wishing to study in Singapore will need to obtain a student visa unless you hold a passport of the country the citizens of those are exempted from the visa. When you get your letter of approval, you will also be issued a visa by your institution. Within two weeks of your acceptance, you will need to apply to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for a Student Pass. This also needs to be no earlier than two months and no later than one month before the start to your course.

The official languages of Singapore are English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. As well as these, there are many other languages you can expect to hear being spoken across the country. It is extremely common for institutions to offer courses in English. If you choose to study in a non-native language, you will likely have to provide evidence of your language proficiency.

 

Employment Opportunity:

International students are permitted to work for 16 hours a week as a part time and during holidays they can work as full time.

2021 intakes:

Singapore government universities generally have two intakes i.e. August and February, with the private institutes offering multiple intakes in January, February, July, August, September, and October.

You should start your admission process around six months before the application deadline. Typically, applications for admissions open in October.
